Dear PGH Residents,
PGH Activity: A day at London Chinese Restaurant
& Yau Ma Tei Wholesale Fruit Market
The PGH is holding a sightseeing trip in Yau Ma Tei District.
We’re excited to invite you on a delightful morning trip that blends culinary heritage with local history. Our journey begins at the iconic London Chinese Restaurant (倫敦大酒樓), a beloved dim sum destination founded in 1979. Known for its hand-crafted dim sum served from traditional carts and counters, this restaurant offers a truly authentic superb Hong Kong breakfast experience.
After enjoying a delicious meal, we’ll take a short walk to the historic Yau Ma Tei Wholesale Fruit Market (果欄)—a vibrant marketplace established in 1913 and recognized as a Grade II historic building. September is the perfect time to explore its bustling stalls, where you’ll find fresh, air-transported fruits like grapes, pears, apples, plums, and figs at unbeatable prices.
To round off our morning adventure, we’ll visit Kadorar et Levain (加多娜天然酵母手作麵包店), a charming bakery tucked away in Yau Ma Tei. Known for its affordable, preservative-free breads made from a house-cultivated sourdough starter, this spot is a hidden gem for bread lovers. The owner, who trained in Japan and Taiwan, brings a refined touch to every loaf. Don’t miss their signature French Bread Pudding, a local favourite that perfectly blends tradition and indulgence.
Come hungry, leave inspired!
